The bet heard ’round the misguided country

-by Kid Bucket-

I don’t know how many of you were watching the debate last Saturday (as always, I was—I also live tweet them all) but I thought this was the best one so far. The gloves came off and there were punches being thrown by all the candidates; needless to say it made great television. But among the classic jabs was THE BET! WHAAAAAT!

In a campaign full of “Really, Rick Perry? Really?” moments, this is one of the ones that really makes me dislike him more then I thought possible. After the Obama Administration decided it wanted to take a country’s treatment of LGBT citizens into account when deciding the amount of foreign aid they would receive, Rick Perry decided that this statement was Obama spitting in the face of every Christian in the entire country, and decided to release this statement of douchebaggery to counter Obama’s gayification of the world. Rick Perry is really here to save us, guys:

“Just when you thought Barack Obama couldn’t get any more out of touch with America’s values, AP reports his administration wants to make foreign aid decisions based on gay rights.

“This administration’s war on traditional American values must stop.

“I have proposed a foreign aid budget that starts at zero. From that zero baseline, we will consider aid requests based solely on America’s national security interests. Promoting special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America’s interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers’ money.

“But there is a troubling trend here beyond the national security nonsense inherent in this silly idea. This is just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country. Investing tax dollars promoting a lifestyle many Americas of faith find so deeply objectionable is wrong.

“President Obama has again mistaken America’s tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles. I will not make that mistake.”

anti-comedy and shaggy republicans

-by Kid Bucket-

I was doing some Wikipedia-ing today (part-time employment!) and came across one of my favorite posts. Wikipedia describes Anti-Comedy as:

Anti-humor (or anti-comedy) and anti-jokes (also known as unjokes) are a kind of humor based on the absence of an expected joke or punch line in a narration which is set up as a joke.

GOP Debate 12: The Re-Re-Re-Debatening

-by Kid Bucket-

It happened! Huntsman came out swinging finally. I thought it would never happen, but when Romney steps into the ring over issues dealing with China YOU BEST NOT MESS WITH THE HUNTS.

Okay, he might not have been swinging. But he did say that Romney was pandering, which isn’t anything he hasn’t been accused of before but it was nice another candidate called him out on it. Also, there isn’t a screencap out there that I have been able to find but the look on Huntsman’s face when Romney said the Chinese were cheating was AMAZING.

Also, this happened.

And Cain called Nancy Pelosi “Princess Nancy”.

All in all it was a generic GOP debate… for everyone except Rick Perry, he’s done probably still going to end up being president.

One last thing: I usually don’t pay any mind to the differences between the different moderators on the various networks, but the moderators tonight were my favorite BY FAR. I want Cramer to ask every single question for every debate from now until forever and I want the woman from tonight to hilariously interrupt every question she can from now on.
